  This is a company which has been successful in producing the recipe for making the various kinds of traditional style Japanese confections.
  Nishikido is synonymous with fine confectionery where Eastern and Western tastes joyfully meet. In Nisikido’s modern factory which has been acclaimed as one of the largest and cleanest confectioneries in existence, various kinds of Japanese confections are mass produced daily.
  Nishikido’s confectionery delights are low in calories and not too sweet so they are popular with young and old, men and women alike.
Among the various kinds of confections made by Nishikido is Momiji-Manju, a maple-leaf shaped bean paste or jam filled puff which is relished as a national favorite of Japanese people.

Clean Room
Various kinds of low-sweet, low-caloried confectioneries are made in the sterilized, dust free clean room.


  The Momiji (maple) tree and maple leaf are the official symbol of Hiroshima Prefecture. This maple leaf shaped confection is so named to memorialize the symbol of Hiroshima. Finely selected Hokkaido red beans are used for making the jam filling for the bun thereby achieving a low calorie,low sweet light taste savored by confectionery lovers. Momiji-Manju also is a gift which best represents a gift originating from Hiroshima.
The ingredients of Momiji-Manju are : Wheat flour, red beans, egg, honey and sugar.

  To keep abreast of the westernized tastes of young Japanese people, an unbaked cake style Momiji-Manju is now being offered. It may be served just like ice cream when served frozen. Make use of Austrian cheese.


  Japan has now become the object of much interest and admiration as the country with the greatest longevity rate in the world. It is widely believed that this longevity is due to Japanese food with its low fat, low calorie content untilizing natural ingredients. Japanese confectioneries have been a part of this tradition for centuries presrving the essence of this unique Japanese taste. The main ingredients of this Japanese confection are :Wheat flour, red beans and some others, increasingly recognized and acclaimed as very healthy foods.


  This photograph was taken during a visit
of the seminar on Smaller Enterprise Development which had been organized
by JICA(Japan International Cooperation Agency) of which 15 different
nationals participated in the visit. Nishikido’s craftsmanshp and meticulous
control backed by an advanced facility and confectionery making methods
was the center of interest during the visit.
